Evan Ratner MD - Medical Director
One of "SAN ANTONIO'S TOP DOC'S" as selected by San Antonio Magazine, and recipient of the 2011 San Antonio Business Journal "HEALTH CARE HERO -OUTSTANDING PHYSICIAN", Dr. Ratner has been practicing Emergency Medicine in San Antonio for more than 20 years. He has over 12 years experience as an E.R. Medical Director. During his tenure, the Emergency department was honored by the medical staff of Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital for the hurricane Katrina response.
In addition to multiple medical staff leadership positions, Dr. Ratner has served as Chief of Staff of Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital. He was the Medical Director of San Antonio's nationally recognized Sexual Assault Forensic Examination program. Dr. Ratner is committed to community involvement and recently was the on-site Medical Director of the International Macabi athletic Games.
Dr. Ratner is one of the few Texas physicians certified in the ImPACT concussion management program. He has been an advocate for concussion awareness in student athletes.
Dr. Ratner is married and has three children, and can often be found mountain biking in the Salado Creek.

Michael Carrizal D.O.
A native Texan, Dr. Michael Carrizal has spent a career in family medicine before finding his way into emergency medicine where for the last two years he has worked as an emergency room attending physician within the Methodist system in San Antonio.
After his residency at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX and Internship at East Orlando Florida Hospital, Orlando FL specializing in family medicine, he joined a family practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. With his love for family medicine and a desire to help communities in need Dr. Carrizal became a traveling physician for rural and urban communities for three years.
When Dr. Carrizal is not practicing medicine he enjoys traveling, photography, snowmobiling and jet skiing on his free time.
Paul Deschner MD
Dr. Paul Deschner was raised in Corpus Christi and is an avid Longhorn alumnus. After medical school at Baylor, he completed his Family Medicine residency in San Antonio, and has remained in practice in San Antonio since 1988. He maintains a large private practice in the medical center, and has been designated Associate Professor of Family Medicine at UTHSCSA, contributing to the practical training and mentoring of the next generation of doctors.
He has been a Flight Surgeon in the USAF Reserve since 1992, and is currently the acting Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the 433d Air Wing at Lackland AFB. Lt Col Deschner has participated in multiple humanitarin deployments over the years, and was honored to serve a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009, flying multiple combat MedEvac and AirEvac missions.
Dr. Deschner is married with three children, and enjoys travel, snow boarding, and riding his horse.
Amy Gutierrez MD
Dr. Gutierrez was was born and raised on the Texas Gulf Coast. She has made San Antonio her home since 1995 when she attended medical school at the University Health Science Center of San Antonio. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the downtown Santa Rosa facility in San Antonio, TX. She is board certified in in Family Medicine and has been practicing continuously as a primary care physician.
She is married, and has two children. In her free time she enjoys jogging and playing soccer.
